Welcome to the Reception Page!
The children have settled in well after their first half term and have become very good at understanding the daily routine which the visual timetable has supported.
This half term we are focusing on Celebrations, the children have enjoyed finding out about Diwali, Halloween, Remembrance Day and Bonfire night and beginning to understand the story behind Christmas.
The children are making good progress within our phonics lessons as we have given a large focus to blending the sounds together, to be able to read words and captions. We hope the Learning at Home Folders are helping support the learning we have been doing with the children each week.
In Math's, we have focused on numbers of the week and reached number 10. Therefore, our next step will be lots of fun and practical ways to focus on the language of ‘more’ and ‘less’ and putting two quantities together to find a total. We have also learnt about 2D shapes and will begin to explore 3D shaped objects.
The children are enjoying the race up the Rainbow Reader chart, watching their name move up the stars, so thank you for all your continued support with reading at home. We are seeing a great difference in their reading already.
We have begun the busy preparations for celebrating Christmas. The children have begun learning the songs for their nativity performance.
